WHERE TO BUY A SECOND-HAND MOBILE HOME?
Mobile home dealers buy and sell second-hand models all the time. Some campsites will buy or sell mobile homes already sited on their park from time to time. As for new mobile homes, due to the cost of transport, we recommend you look at second-hand mobile homes already close to your chosen destination.

SETTING UP ON A CAMPING SITE, RESIDENTIAL HOLIDAY PARK OR HOLIDAY VILLAGE
Recreational mobile residences can only be set up on campsites, residential holiday parks or holiday villages classed as lightweight recreational housing in order to preserve their legal status as mobile homes find out more about the law) and the advantages associated with this status (no residence or property tax, for example.) Therefore, a second-hand mobile home will have no value unless you find a campsite that accepts it or unless, with the agreement of the campsite owner, you manage to reinstate the lease for the pitch on which it was previously set up. In that case, don’t buy a mobile home unless you have found a campsite. Consider the age of the mobile home! Some campsites will refuse to lease a plot if your mobile home is too old, in order to keep up appearances with recent models.
SETTING UP ON PRIVATE LAND
Please remember that legally a mobile home must be set up on a campsite, residential holiday park or holiday village in order to preserve its legal status as a mobile home (find out more about the law) and the associated advantages (no residence or property tax, for example).
ESTIMATING THE PRICE OF SECOND-HAND MODELS
The value of a mobile home can vary greatly depending on supply and demand. At present, there is no official second-hand mobile home price list in France. Besides, the value of the mobile home itself should be assessed on a case-by-case basis depending on sales terms : is the mobile home already sited on a pitch or does it have to be moved by special convoy ? Can the pitch rental contract be transferred from the present owner to the next (costs, duration, notice period), etc ...
As an indication, it is generally accepted that the initial cost of the mobile home itself (transport, installation and various extra costs not included) loses 30% of its value in its first year of use, 15 % in its second year, 10 % in the following years and that after 15 years, a mobile home has no real market value anymore.
